QForm VX simulation seminar at CBM on 29th of June

Practical use of metalforming simulation for extending dies life

The agenda covers following topics:

1.   Recent development of forging simulation QForm VX softwaremade it faster, more informative, easily affordable.

2.    Main goals when developing efficient forging technology such as defect free material flow, reducing load, extending die life and material saving can be achieved by means of simulation.

3.   Comprehensive analysis of the forging technology based on material flow simulation coupled with die stress, temperature and deflection predicting.

4.    Predicting and avoiding material flow defects (laps, folds, die non fills).

5.  Main reasons of premature die failure (brittle and thermal cracks, low cycle fatigue, abrasive wear).

6.  Ways of die life extending (proper selection of tool steel, optimisation of forging sequence, use of assembled and pre-stressed tools, surface treatment).

7.  Practical case studies: simulation of hot and cold forging examples and finding the ways to reduce material use and extend die life.
